Move!

Elderly people who load the dishwasher, climb stairs or just keep moving are bound to live longer than their sedentary counterparts, a study said on Tuesday.

The study of 302 people aged 70 to 82 found those who engaged in more physical activity --- not necessarily formal exercise --- were much less likely to die than those who did not move as much.

"The message here is that for older adults, any movement is better than no movement and that this can come from usual daily activities," said study author Todd Manini of the U.S. National Institute on Aging in Bethesda, Maryland.

Not just older adults. Physical activity in any form, benefits anyone. It improves blood circulation, it exercises the heart, and it leads your mind away from depression. Move more today and live longer!

I lived the life of a couch potato despite the warning that my hormonally imbalanced body will make me bloat like Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters! And look my BMI is higher than my age! LOL!

Anyway, I lost about 10lbs already just by getting off a stop or 2 from my usual stop when riding the bus to walk home (that's about 10-15 minutes of walking). At work, I go up and down the stairs a minimum of 5 times in day to call for my bosses when they're needed at the reception area (they don't have an intercom system so I have to do that for them). Their stairs are quite steep and about 15 steps. Any activity can really help. At least di pa pala ako mamamatay ng maaga! LOL! :D

Thanks for sharing the info!
