What Makes Men Gay?

A Canadian study involving 944 heterosexual and homosexual men says the cause is more of a biologic nature than a lifestyle choice.
.....the effect is probably the result of a "maternal memory" in the womb for male births.

A woman's body may see a male foetus as "foreign", he says, prompting an immune reaction which may grow progressively stronger with each male child.

The antibodies created may affect the developing male brain.

In an accompanying article, scientists from Michigan State University said: "These data strengthen the notion that the common denominator between biological brothers, the mother, provides a prenatal environment that fosters homosexuality in her younger sons."

Homosexuals or gays are often the object of ridicule of many societies. Even in this modern age, most still look at the condition as an abnormality, and they try to find a "cure" for it. They often suffer in silence as they grow up, and most try to grin and bear it by becoming professional artists. A select few become closet queens. But if you look more closely, there are more and more gays holding important positions today.

I believe homosexuality is a sexual orientation. In some, it might be a lifestyle choice and in others, there might indeed be a biologic or psychological reason behind it. But I'm not here to look out for a "cure" or a "cause" for them being so; I simply accept their existence like anybody I know.

That doesn't explain lesbians.

So are left handed people. As far as i know, they are about as common.

According to the article it is more biological than previously believed.

And yes, they're everywhere. I have friends who are gay, some closet and married. Quite a big problem here. I'm fine with gay doctors, just don't raise their eyebrows. :)

Sexual orientation should not be reason to love any person less, or to hate any person more.

At the end of the day, whether a person is gay or not makes no difference to me. It's what's makes that person an essentially good person that matters to me.

I have many gay friends and they are fun to be with. Very creative, too.

i have nothing against the third sex, too. but to have a child who will turn into a gay or a lesbian is something i am not ready. as you said, they're often objects of ridicule. the hurt that my child will have to undergo is unbearable if he/she becomes a gay/lesbian.
