UP ON THE ROOF

I'm feeling bad I think I'm coming down with a bad cold or flu. I'm posting now from my laptop. As dear old Murphy would lament, "If anything can go wrong, it will."

Don't worry, I'm taking my medicine, and lots of OJ, and good old, bed rest. I think I exhausted myself too much yesterday, and now I'm paying for it.

The nice thing about staying home is having time to read books and listen to good music. Forgetting about work is therapeutic. A good massage can probably be the most wonderful thing I need now, but the nearest massage establishment in my place is about 5 miles away, and since I'm not up to driving.... I just lied down most of the day listening to music by Tuck and Patti. This latest album by the outstanding duo was given to me by Tito Rolly last Christmas. Thank you, Tito Rolly!

Let me share to you the lyrics of the song which I think I'm finding very cool and relaxing during this time when I myself need a little healing:

Up On The Roof
Gerald Goffin/Carole King © Screen Gems EMI Music Inc.

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space
On the roof, it's peaceful as can be
And there the world below can't bother me
Let me tell you now

When I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet (up on the roof)
I get away from the hustling crowd
And all that rat-race noise down in the street (up on the roof)
On the roof, the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Let's go up on the roof (up on the roof)

At night the stars put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me

I keep a-tellin' you

Right smack dab in the middle of town
I've found a paradise that's trouble proof (up on the roof)
And if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two
Up on the roof (up on the roof)

At night the stars put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me

Up on the roof (up on the roof)
Oh, come on, baby (up on the roof)
Oh, come on, honey (up on the roof)

Everything is all right (up on the roof)

This song has many versions. If you want to compare, be sure you have Windows Media Player to hear the various song versions:
When I was young and troubled, I also used to climb up our abode's roof and stay there to contemplate and think. Yes, since I grew up in the province,
".....when I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet (up on the roof)
I get away from the hustling crowd
And all that rat-race noise down in the street (up on the roof)
On the roof, the only place I know....."
Life was much simpler then.
