Eat Your Veggies!

Babies who have better taste in food do not like veggies. But as you get older, you learn that taste takes a backseat when you want to be healthier. You also find out that many of the better-tasting food items are not too good for you in the long run. Here's news that doing a vegan diet may be beneficial especially for those with diabetes:
People who ate a low-fat vegan diet, cutting out all meat and dairy, lowered their blood sugar more and lost more weight than people on a standard American Diabetes Association diet, researchers said on Thursday.

After 22 weeks on the diet, 43 percent of those on the vegan diet and 26 percent of those on the standard diet were either able to stop taking some of their drugs such as insulin or glucose-control medications, or lowered the doses.

The vegan dieters lost 14 pounds (6.5 kg) on average while the diabetes association dieters lost 6.8 pounds (3.1 kg). An important level of glucose control called A1c fell by 1.23 points in the vegan group and by 0.38 in the group on the standard diet.

I was never a veggie eater until I became an adult. This is when I realized how important veggies are.

Now, brocolli is actually my favorite vegeatable :D

As a child, I never liked ampalaya most but now, I not only eat it, I even cook it. That's why I am not that alarmed that my children still has no liking for this vegetable.

I like vegetables too. But I need to eat them with some meat or fish. I don't think I could be a pure vegetarian.
