Smoking = Less Pain Giving Birth?

It sounds crazy and amusing, but in the UK, teenage moms who get pregnant deliberately smoke in the hope of giving birth to smaller babies. They think that if their babies are smaller, then the pain of giving birth becomes lesser. 'Some logic, huh?

i strongly believe that the benefit is not worth the great deal of risk it'll take... :(

This was the same headline for the Metro (the free paper that First buses in Wales have every day) a couple of days ago. When I read it, I thought it was really one of the dumbest reasons I've ever heard why teeners smoke.

I'm a smoker myself and I am aware of the effects of smoking. However, if and when I get pregnant again, I won't hesitate to go cold turkey again the next time (just like what I did when I first got pregnant).

someone ought to tell them the best way not to experience childbirth is to not get pregnant in the first place. Taking the pill would be a lot better than smoking while pregnant :-[
